Description: This is one of many great vintage & antique items I'm currently listing from various estates. Please take a look at my other merchandise at your leisure. You are bidding on: Old WWII Photograph & Neg "Devil's Pass" Papua, New Guinea ~ 1942-1944 ~ Pencil titled "Devill's Pass" on manila envelope. Shows a sharp switchback turn on a narrow one-way road. No history found. I found the print later - so there's no picture of it - but it has a "Passed by US Army Examiner" stamp. This original 4x5 inch negative & original photographic print comes from a collection of photos and negatives saved by a serviceman in the "8 Ballers" - the 8th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron (A-2 Section I believe) at Papua New Guinea during WWII. I've seen dates on the envelopes from 1942 to 1944. DISCLAIMER: Negative was shot against a light table - not scanned - and it may show some distortion. Although the negative offers superior resolution, the 80-year-old negative may now have flaws that the print doesn't exhibit. Also - I haven't figured out which "8 Baller" took these images and held on to the collection. I have my suspicions that it was P-38 Lightning pilot and photographer "Chet" Williams. Original Neg & Print Measure Approx. 4 x 5 Inches. Very Good Condition: As Seen. Please see photos for further details Thanks for Looking and Good Luck BiddingSW4JC
