Description: WWI Early M1905 Rifle Bayonet, Springfield, 16" blade shows a dark age patina, with silver finish, wear, scratches, 3 nicks on blade edge as if struck by something. Excellent working press-stud, "A" stamped on the pommel top spine area with very nice walnut grips. The top of blade spine shows some tiny scattered dings. The scabbard is a modified Third type with the blued steel belt hook removed and replaced with a wire belt hook which is missing on this piece. The leather point area looks to have been re-leathered and the stitching on the spine is coming undone approx. 6". There are two rivets missing on the leather locket on the top. Locket area stamped, "R.I.A. 1921", the back of the scabbard is stamped, "R.I.A. 1906 W.K.". Scabbard leather shows scratches, wear, use. These bayonets were originally made bright, then refinished starting in 1919 during WWI in France. Notice, this one has an early s/n# along with sharp US markings and SA US with flaming bomb ordnance. See photos.
