West German Pottery Scheurich Ceramos Orange Fat Lava Glazed Ceramic Vase 1970's

Description: SASS EMPORIA are delighted to offer this eye-catching multi-glazed ceramic art vase produced by Scheurich of Germany. Still in operation today, and based in the Bavarian town of Kleinheubach, Scheurich were the most prolific producers of mid-century German ceramics. Scheurich offered a solid production program of classically proportioned forms and an endless array of exciting decors, that are highly collected today. In this example, we see the form 284-15, part of the Ceramos Series released in the early 1970's. The Ceramos Series featured globular shaped forms of abundant proportions, produced in various sizes from 15cm-65cm, both with and without handles. Decorated in a warm orange satin glaze that coats the majority of the middle band of the vase. A gloss umbered brown lava underglaze towards its base and opening lip develops a thick bubbling black lava textured effect that leaves streaks streaming around the circumference of the vase.
