Description: Vintage TIRSCHENREUTH HUTSCHENREUTHER GRUPPE Germany 11" White Bisque Porcelain Vase with Relief of Eagles & Ferns. Material: Hard Paste Porcelain/Bisque Porcelain, Glazed Inside. Measurements: The vase is 11" in Height x 7" in Width. It weighs a stout 5 lbs, 4 oz. NOTE: This is a rarely found large square size. This pattern is more commonly found with vases that are just 8-1/2" in Height. Tirschenreuth Company History: In 1832, Heinrich Eichhorn requested to build a pottery in the city Tirschenreuth, Germany. Although the city rejected that inital request, it was granted in 1833. Construction of the factory was finally completed in 1838 (thus the 1838 date on the Maker's Marks). The plant added a second kiln which began operating in 1846. In 1880 Heinrich Eichorn died and his shares were acquired by Edmund Tittel, Friedrich Muther and August Bauscher. In the following year, Bauscher sold his shares to Karl Gotthold Mezger. Ownership changed again in 1908 to Johann Schlipphack. The company struggled during World War I as the sales markets collapsed. Schlipphack died in 1926 and so the company eventually was acquired in 1927 by the porcelain manufacturer Lorenz Hutschenreuther. That ownership continued until 1994 when Hutschenreuther AG separated from the Tirschenreuth porcelain factory. By the end of 1995, the Tirschenreuth porcelain factory was closed after more than 150 years. Maker's Mark: The bottom of the vase has a printed '1838 Tirschenreuth Hutschenreuther Gruppe Germany' mark. This mark, and variations of it, was used from 1969 until the closure in 1995. Condition: Excellent with no issues other than water stains inside the vase from previous use. See photos.
