Description: Complete Set: Amateur Telescope Making ~ Books 1, 2, & 3 ~ Scientific American ~ 1950sGreat set of three vintage books from Scientific American on Telescope making. Incredible detail with tons of diagrams and black and white photos throughout. Each measures approximately 6x8" Hardbound in red boards with gold printing. On the outside, although there's some fading, scuffing, edge wear, staining, and spine damage, they're quite presentable. On the inside, there's a name written on one, and a stamp in the other, and some light staining on the page edges - but otherwise they're in very nice condition: crisp clean pages, and nice, tight bindings. Book 1 has 500+ pages; Books 2 & 3 have nearly 650 pages each. Substantial volumes; great references; still relevant today#1, 1959#2, 1959#3, 1956 The books cover various aspects of telescope construction and observational technique, sometimes at quite an advanced level, but always in a way that is accessible to the intelligent amateur. The caliber of the contributions is uniformly high and the books have remained in constant use by both amateurs and professionals. Often referred to as the "Bible of Telescope Making."
