Description: A ROMANTIC WHITE ROSE LIDDED BLUE BOX This listing features a sweetheart of a keepsake box, perfect for your sweetheart (especially if that's you). The lid is decorated with a single white rose, which the Victorians considered the symbol of eternal love, purity, and loyalty. It's also the most chosen flower for weddings, worldwide. Measuring 3 1/2 inches tall (including the rose) by 4 inches wide by 5 inches long, it is all handpainted and gloss-glazed ceramic. The delicate rose and leaves are hand-formed with only one rough spot on a single rose petal. All of the petals are a little rough around the edges so it blends in beautifully. There is subtle crazing on the box thanks to Father Time, and one tiny nick on the underneath of the lid rim which can be easily touched up. The white of the rose is highlighted with the palest touch of lavender just like those grown in a moonlight garden. The black lid and pale blue box are scalloped and scrolled in shape and completely glazed inside and out. It is unmarked and research did not find another one exactly like it — a few were similar but not as detailed. I'm guessing this beauty dates back to the 1970s.
