There is so much that could be written about the history and importance of this place, the owners, and diverse assortment of past customers, however I will only give a very brief and very incomplete synopsis here. How it all began: After discharge from the military, a cleaver business man named "Jimmy James" saw a need and opened a burger stand near the hungry recruits. It proved to be so successful with many locals also frequenting his stand he decided to expand and open a restaurant. It was named "Broadway Lunch" in 1924, and as Jimmy's notoriety grew, about a year later he changed the name to "Jimmy's Kitchen" . This specific menu is a fantastic find for collectors of early Shanghai history, vintage menus and any other interesitng, unique ephemera..
