Description: Here’s a vintage schoolbook that will not only enhance your collection, but may be enjoyed by your young children and grandchildren if you read it to them. Kids don’t mind how old a book is as long as the story is still a good one. THE NEW IF I WERE GOING is a third-grade reader in the Alice & Jerry series, published by Scott Foresman. It was written by Mabel O’Donnell and charmingly illustrated by Florence and Margaret Hoopes. It’s called “The New” because it is a revision of an older book. The overall story line is about the stationmaster of the village who, with his wife, receives the gift of a trip to Europe. Although they feel they’re too old to travel, they accept the gift, and come back with many stories and photographs for all their friends. Sections include Across the Sea in Pictures; It Happened in Lapland; Visitors From Across the Sea; the Fete of the Blue Nets; and The Birthday Candle, among others. This 1954 textbook has seen lots of use! It shows wear inside and out, and has light marking here and there. But it’s holding together sturdily and has all its pages. I’d say it’s in good vintage condition, and would be a good reading copy. Questions? Please e-mail before bidding. Winner will pay for USPS Media Mail shipping.
