Description: Started in 1864, by Caleb Chase and John Sanborn, the Chase and Sanborn coffee company hit it big because they were the first coffee company to pack and ship roasted coffee in sealed tins. I don't think this particular tin dates from the 19th century, but I'll willing to bet it is well over 100 years old. The unadorned tin has a tight fitting lid that's embossed: "Seal Brand Coffee Chase & Sanborn." The tin is in good, age-related condition -- there is a small dent on one side that, I think, gives it character.The metal tin is approx. 5" tall x 4 3/8" across.
