Is in MINT CONDITION and has been kept in storage for the past 40 years. It was used by my engineering father, who kept everything in meticulous order. Please refer to pictures for exact details and product description below for more information.Product DescriptionThe Imperial-Adler LC 110 is a 10-digit desktop calculator with an LC display. In Great Britain the device was sold as the Imperial LC 110, at least partially with a TA nameplate. The reason for this is that at that time both Triumph-Adler and Imperial belonged to the Litton Group. The calculator built in 1979, together with the larger L 1019, is one of the first Triumph-Adler desktop calculators with an LC display. With its number of digits of 10, it falls out of the series of 8 and 12-digit computers and can therefore not be called the successor to a particular computer with a vacuum fluorescence display. At about the same time, however, the D 100 , a 10-digit calculator with an illuminated display, appeared (I prefer not to say anything about the system of type designations at this point ...).The computer is operated with two AA cells. 1.5 V dry batteries are actually required, but the computer also runs on 1.2 V rechargeable batteries. A power supply connection is not available and because of the power-saving LC display is not necessary - the office machine dictionary specifies a battery life of three years! According to the rating plate, the output of the LC 110 is 0.3 milliwatts. With the approximately contemporary Triumph-Adler 807 it is 3 watts, i.e. 10,000 times as much; it would hardly run for more than 2 hours with two AA cells! In addition to the basic arithmetic operations, the LC 110 offers a memory with four keys and an automatic mode, a sign change key, an [EX] key for register exchange and an [MU] key for calculation of surcharges and margins. The calculator has a floating point mode, three fixed point modes and an adding machine mode in which the last two digits are interpreted as decimal places. ConstructionThe housing is only locked with a screw (in the battery compartment), the rest is clipped - a very "progressive" design for 1979. The lower shell contains the battery compartment and is connected to the circuit board via two cables. All other components are attached to the upper shell, which consists of two parts, a dark one and a light one, which are also connected to one another via snap locks and not, as you often see, by fused plastic tongues. This gave me the opportunity to successfully put the extremely yellowed, light-colored housing part of my copy into a de-yellowing bath. The motherboard is not very big. The solid metal LC display is attached to one side, the CPU, an HD43320 in SMD technology (not yet the rule in 1979!), As well as two resistors and two capacitors are on the other. The manufacturer of the computer is not evident from the circuit board, but the obvious relationship with the TA 121 XPD speaks for General, as does the labeling of the two circuit boards with "PCB-1A" and "PCB-2A" and the typical one with an unclean set stamp serial number printed on paper. The inscription "LC 110" on both circuit boards suggests that the device was specially developed for Triumph-Adler. KeyboardThe keyboard circuit board is screwed to the dark part of the upper case. Behind it is a rubber contact mat.The individual buttons are no longer attached. They are made of an apparently extremely UV-sensitive plastic - the ones of my copy are partially discolored beyond recognition and also have fine cracks in the surface. Originally, all buttons were in the same color as you are used to from TA, and the blue-gray buttons were once black. You can still see this on the inside of the keyboard. It is noteworthy that the otherwise fastest yellowing white keys have hardly changed their color; but they also suffer from cracking. You could now suspect that someone has cleaned the computer with a too strong cleaning agent. What speaks against this theory, however, is that there are other computers that show the same discoloration and cracks, including the two copies by Markus Sigg (see external links) and my Adler 8210 PD , which in principle has the same keyboard. With one of my three TA 121 XPDs , which also have a keyboard of this type, the colors are still as they should be, while the other two are already discolored. The blue plus button seems to start here.Because of the sharp border between the discolored and the non-discolored part of the keycaps, which also coincides exactly with a bevel, one can assume that the visible part of the keys was somehow treated differently at the factory, maybe it was a bit roughened or matted which then accelerated the weathering. On the other hand, the bevel coincides exactly with the upper edge of the keyboard panel and thus with the limit of the influence of light.
