Description: Presented is an extremely rare piece of history: an early, (if not the first ever) Nike advertisement for Air Jordan basketball shoes, intact in the original vintage program from the Dapper Dan Roundball Classic in Pittsburgh on April 2, 1985. The original Jordans were released on April 1, 1985, and with the text reading "Air Jordan Lands This May", meaning the shoes had not "landed" prior to printing of the program and thus confirming that this is indeed a very early promotional vehicle for the most famous shoe of all time. The Dapper Dan game, which pitted Pennsylvania All-Stars against US All-Stars, was played for 28 years in Pittsburgh, where it was founded by Sonny Vaccaro. This particular contest was a 114-97 win for the US, with Rod Strickland named as the MVP. Now, to the collectible numbers: 11,621 fans attended the game, which would be the absolute maximum number of programs in existence. Take into account that this game was played 40 years ago and most programs have not survived, and what you have should equal a very desirable collectible for anyone interested in Michael Jordan, Nike, Air Jordans, marketing, advertisements, or basketball in general.
