These chapters were removed from all later editions due to copyright infringement. Contrary to popular belief, there are actually seven different printings of Deities & Demigods. Both of the first two pressings contain the Cthulhu and Melnibonean Mythos. On the bottom of page 4 of the second pressing the following words can be seen: Special thanks are also given to Chaosism, Inc. for permission to use the material found in the Cthulhu Mythos and the Melnibonean Mythos. This "Thank you" is NOT present in the first pressing, which makes this the rarest of these tomes. The book in this auction is one of these exceptionally rare copies. The third pressing of this book states on the back cover that there are 17 pantheons of divinities, but in fact only contains 15 because the Cthulhu & Melnibonean Mythos were removed. Thanks To Choasism is still present on page 4 of the third printing. The first three pressings contain a wizard logo on the bottom cover and are indistinguishable by looking at the cover(s). The fourth and fifth pressings of the book have the TSR logo at the bottom and state correctly on the back cover that there are 15 pantheons of divinities, however the fourth printing still thanks Choasism and the fifth printing finally removes the “Special thanks….” TSR finally changed the name of the book to Legends and Lore, the sixth and seventh pressings in 1983. This book has seen much better days. The corners of the covers are badly bent and the cover shows much wear. The binding has a tear at the top and there is tape on the inside front cover with a person's name on it (see the last picture). On the good side, the book is complete with no missing pages, there is no writing on any pages (I haven't inspected every single page, but it looks clean), and the book contains the mythos that were removed in subsequent editions.
