Trash To Treasure Art Doll, Disney's Little Mermaid Ariel Is A Punk Rock Girlie

Description: This Ariel doll has lived an entire life where she was loved, played with, and eventually had her hair chopped off before ending up at a thrift store. After coming to my house, a new life began. While her former barber was certainly a visionary in seeing a Disney princess with a buzz cut, her hair was evened and balanced out a bit. It's still uneven, but imperfection is Ariel's new motto. It's part of her charm. I removed the original screening and painted a fresh face for Ariel using Posca paint followed by Mr. Super Clear sealer. Her ears and nose were pierced, and all rings and studs are made out of stainless steel (which doesn't oxidize/discolor). Her nose hoop and ear hoop shouldn't be removed, but the studs can be easily removed if necessary. Ariel got some tattoos, and these are just regular ol' temporary tattoos, applied to her arms and chest as you would apply one to yourself. The tattoos are not sealed so they can be removed with rubbing alcohol and a bit of elbow grease if needed. Handled gently, they will last. Her corset top and stockings are handmade from cotton flannel and knit fabric. These fabrics are soft and nice to handle, but they do pick up lint more easily. A small piece of tape works great to remove any lint or dust. Her shorts are altered from a pair of doll jeans, and the inner seams have been resewn so that they don't unravel. Her outfit is removable in case you want to change things up, though I recommend removing her stockings gently. Her legs are rubber which can grip fabrics and make them difficult to put on. You can lightly powder the legs with corn starch or baby powder so that they slide more easily into the clothing. Though Ariel has pointed toes for heeled shoes, her feet and legs are made of a soft rubber, and she can fit flat boots as well. Her boots are from a Mattel brand fashion pack, and I painted the yellow lacing to make them look like little Doc Martens. Ariel's mini backpack is Barbie brand but has been repainted to fit her new style. I used Posca paint and sealed only the painted area with Mr. Super Clear sealer. Her bracelets are handmade from silver plated wire, and glass and metal beads. Her bracelets and necklace are removable. Please check all pictures carefully. As an artist, good craftsmanship is important to me, and I stand by the quality of my work. But this doll is imperfect, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She has a couple of scratches on her booty, and there is also a small area of acetone damage on her back; this was hard to photograph as it's difficult to see, but you can feel a slight texture difference in center of her back.
