I had the good fortune of working Petty and the Heartbreakers on 7 different tours over my career. They did not stop to sign items very often and most times, they entered the venue separately, you wouldn't even see them other than soundcheck. They would leave hotels and enter and exit venues surrounded by management and security. Sometimes with friends, family or band members with them. Approaching artists for an autograph as part of the crew was extremely frowned upon and could get you into a lot of trouble and/or even fired. I had to pick my opportunities very wisely and it often involved a friend with promotion, production / band management and an expensive bottle of bourbon as a thank you. My very last Petty show was in 2014 at the United Center in Chicago on the Hypnotic Eye Tour. The very first tour working them was on the 1991 Great Wide Open Tour at Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates - just west of Chicago. Prior to that I had seen him in a non-working capacity in 1987 at Alpine Valley Music Theater in Wisconsin. Tom Petty was arguably one of the greatest performers of the last several decades... always a great show! 'Greatest Hits' is a great release and seeing them out on tour back in the 90's was awesome. In over 3 decades, not once, did I ever see a bad show. Gifted musicians and incredible performers. Here is your chance to own a true piece of rock & roll history. I can't decide whether or not I want to frame this piece for myself or simply get it into the hands of another TRUE fan. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest musicians of our time and who's music speaks to multiple generations. I am going to offer this up for sale and in the event, it does not sell in short order, I may just pull it and frame it up to hang in my Manhattan residence. I wanted to simply give the buyer an opportunity to frame this in a manner they personally see fit. ABOUT ME: I worked in the live / touring music business beginning in 1986... over 3 decades. In that time, I amassed a collection of items like no other and am now offering a small portion of my items to the public.
