Description: Rare blue Steiff Original Teddy Bear with all identification marks, button, label, growler that growls, measuring 35 cm / 14 inches tall, and measures 9" when seated. He was produced for the Steiff Club in a limited edition in 1994. Bear # 5881.This bear is a replica of a single 1908 by Steiff produced blue bear, named Elliot, and made for Harrods in London. It was not a success – colored bears did not sit well with the market in 1908, so the blue bear Elliot was the only one. It sold in a Christie’s Christmas auction in 1993 for a record price. Maybe it was no coincidence that the Steiff Club came out in 1994 with this fine blue teddy bear, one of which I have listed here! Our beautiful blue bear here is in beautiful condition, with the blue mohair all fine, the growler in its belly working, the felt hands and feet all good, nose, mouth, and claw stitches all original, and its black plastic safety eyes. Bear is firmly stuffed and fully jointed.I ship quick, and pack carefully!
