This is a Top-Quality CD of 398 train order images from the Southern Pacific Transportation Company, covering the entire main line from Los Angeles, California to Yuma, Arizona (The Sunset Route). This CD also covers all branch lines south of Los Angeles in the LA switching area. In addition, there are train order images from the San Diego & Arizona Eastern, Southern Pacific of Mexico, Tijuana & Tecate, Inter-California, and Yuma Valley. Included are 2 station lists showing each location and the number of orders copied at that location. Also included are 9 employee timetable pages that cover all of this territory, so you can see where each location was, with respect to the others. This was all train order territory clear up to the time they got rid of train orders, around 1986. There are 55 orders from the San Diego, Arizona & Eastern, 11 from SP of Mexico, 6 from Tijuana & Tecate, 24 from Inter-California, 3 from the Yuma Valley, and 299 from Southern Pacific proper. There are several locations in Mexico included, and are written or typed in Spanish. There are 52 different locations represented here, with at least one train order image from each one. Ages of the orders range from 1920 to 1984. I am very thankful to have obtained these orders before the SP and other roads did away with them entirely. Many of these stations and towers were closed in the 1950's and 1960's. Those that remained open, still copied a lot of train orders, as traffic was always fairly heavy in this whole area, especially the main line from LA to Yuma. However, nearly all intermediate stations on this main line were closed after CTC was installed on this line in the 1950s.The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations, engine numbers (a few steam) and other operations unique to this large and very interesting piece of Railroad. This CD shows many operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and many types of train orders, all consistent with train-order operation.
