Description: I am selling these microphones for a friend who is a retired recording engineer. The C-107 was produced in limited numbers, and are very rare. It is from the same era as the C-37A and its specifications are similar. Each of the SONY tube microphones has two small diaphragm (3/4”)condenser elements. The C-107 model offers functions not found in the C-57 (the C-57 is switchable between omni and cardioid), because the CP-4 power supply has controls to continuously and remotely vary the directional pattern achieved by these dual elements, continuously variable from Omnidirectional to Cardioid to Figure 8. The power supplies also provide a switchable high cut filter and a switchable three-position low cut filter. About condition: The Good: 1. I have replaced the tube in each microphone with N.O.S. CK5703WB tubes, because the original 6DH3 tube is no longer available. The new tubes are excellent low noise tubes. 2. I have replaced all the capacitors in the microphones. 3. I have replaced all the electrolytic capacitors, plus the 6uF coupling capacitors in the power supplies. 4. I have cleaned the controls in the power supplies. 5. I have replaced the foam in the carrying cases. 6. I have repaired the output cables from the microphones. 7. I have replaced rotted out foam in the microphones. 8. Included are a bag of extra connectors and hardware for the cables. 9. Each microphone comes with a small accessory box which contains extra lamps and a fuse. 10. The original owner's manual is included. This contains schematics for the microphones and power supplies. The Bad: 1. One microphone is missing a standoff because someone broke the threads off in the housing. I was unable to remove the broken section of thread in order to replace the standoff. See photos. 2. That microphone is also missing the case screw that mates with the missing standoff. See photos. 3. One of the DIN type connectors for one microphone output cable has an incorrect internal shield. There are 2 halves to the shield. One half is correct, the other is from some other similar connector. I had to modify that incorrect part to make it work properly. See photo. 4. One microphone is missing the Sony badge. 5. Both microphones are missing a label that covers 2 of the case screws. See photos. 6. The boots on the cables are deteriorating. See photos. 7. The microphones have scratches, scuffs and tape residue on them. See photos. 8, One power supply is missing a foot. 9. These microphones are not a matched pair. The serial numbers are not sequential and one microphone (serial#1085) has 3.9dB lower output. If you turn up the gain on the preamp, it's fine. The microphones are in good operating condition. You can listen to a recording I made with them here: https://soundcloud.com/wbendler/paper-thoughts-c-107-mics?si=acec2e12cd7947c7b0041d9700197a7a&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing The microphones were placed about 2 feet from me, and connected to a Tascam DR-100 digital recorder. No processing was used. You get: (2) Sony C-107 microphones (2) Microphone cases (2) Stand adapters (2) Microphone cables (2) Output cables (2) Power supplies (2) Carrying cases (1) Owner's manual (2) Accessory boxes with lamps and fuses
