Description: Listing is for a Vintage Solido The Famous Battles GMC Truck w/Accessories-French, Die-cast Metal, Scale 1:50, Excellent Condition. GMC Truck 1 1/2-ton, 6 x 6 cargo trucks were delivered during 1941-1945. Solido GMC chassis is made of die-cast metal. GMC Truck is 5” Long x 1 3/4” Wide x 2” High. Solido GMC Truck is painted army green in color. This GMC Truck model has an open cargo bay containing plastic jerrycans with its canvas rolled up at top of truck bed. Jerry can cargo insert can pops out. Since this Solido military vehicle is built on a metal chassis it will stay in great condition for decades to come. Made in France. This is an Original French Solido factory made die-cast model! Not a Chinese copy as sold by some others! A jerrycan or jerrican is a robust liquid container made from pressed steel. It was designed in Germany in 1930s for military use to hold 20 liters of fuel, and saw widespread use by both Germany and Allies during World War II. Sometimes jerrycans were filled with water and kept separate from fuel jerrycans.GMC, also known as "Jimmy," was a highly successful series of off-road capable, 1 1/2-ton, 6 x 6 trucks, built in large numbers to a standardized design (from 1941 to 1945) for U.S. Army that saw heavy service, predominantly as cargo trucks, in both World War II and Korean War. Original "Deuce and a Half" formed backbone of famed Red Ball Express that kept Allied armies supplied as they pushed eastward after Normandy invasion. GMC came in many variants, including open or closed cab, open or closed cargo bay. and over a score of specialized models, but bulk were standard, general purpose, cargo models. A large minority were built with a front mounted winch, and one in four of cabs had a machine-gun mounting ring above co-driver's position. 572,500 GMCs including all variants were built. Loose without original Solido box. Since GMC Truck w/Accessories no longer has its original box, it will be wrapped carefully with bubble wrap, packing material, and mailed in a new white corrugated double walled reinforced cardboard box with a flap that opens and closes easily. Solido military models are built so well that over 45 years later this model is as good as when it was built and first sold. Truly this is quite remarkable! Please note that typically, Solido tanks and armored fighting vehicles as well as firefighting trucks are made in a 1:50 scale while the support vehicles, which include the jeeps and staff cars, are produced in a slightly larger 1:43 scale.
