Description: This book was donated by a patron from an estate. It is a first Edition. The book is in excellent condition from the dust jacket (which is protected by a clear and removable over jacket) to the binding to the edges of the book which are unblemished to the inside pages which appear to have never been read. In the pictures I have also included a picture of the the inscription and signature on the title page. When I took off the dustjacket I noticed there was a very small (measured it at .5 cm) little indentation on the back cover at the bottom. I included it in the photographs. From the dustjacket: "As the first-born of such a prominent acting family---his father, Laurence Olivier, matchless, and his mother and her mother no mean performers themselves; then add in successive stepmothers Vivien Leigh and Joan Plowright, not to mention, among the godparents, Sybil Thorndike, Ralph Richardson and Noel Coward, and the author's personal associations are enviably exotic. Naturally they constantly illuminate his narrative. But he was also concerned to find his own fulfilment--principally in Third World countries." This very readable autobiography of a man born to "Hollywood royalty" is a welcome change from the usual tales of woe and misconduct one usually sees from Hollywood scions. As Philip Ziegler writes in his Foreward: "Tarquin has greatly enjoyed his life. Fortunately he knows how to communicate that pleasure. The reader will enjoy that too." There are 2 separate sections of family photographs; a total of 16 sides of photographs, some formal and many candid. The autograph and personal inscription on the first edition book appears to be made out to a personal friend of Olivier's.
