Description: Up for sale is a Good to Very Good overall condition vintage N Frame Sideplate with Logo, in Stainless Steel, that originated from a well cared-for S&W Model 629-1 Revolver chambered in .44 Magnum. There are several moderate scratches present, primarily in the upper center area of the Sideplate near the Logo, and some handling marks from general use. There does not appear to be any attempt made to "repair" any of the marks, which is evident from the clear visibility and sharpness of the stamped Logo. Despite the handling marks, the Stainless itself is in its original state. Please examine the image set on a full-size desktop or laptop screen so as to view the high-resolution image set in full details. PLEASE NOTE - COMPATIBLE MODELS: When replacing the Sideplate on your N Frame revolver, this piece has three screw holes and all the holes are the same diameter. On the model 629's, for example, this was the case on all models up until the Model 629-2 (approx. 1988) where construction changed to the "New Yoke Retention System", and the result was having the forward-most screw hole on the Sideplate actually be a larger diameter on the 629-2 than the earlier models, like the one listed here from a 629-1. (The new Yoke Retention System used a new, larger-diameter, spring-loaded screw assembly that installed into the forwardmost hole on the Sideplate.) FINAL NOTE: Sideplates on S&W revolvers were subject to some final "hand-fitting" during the installation process, and there may be some additional fitting, polishing or filing of the edge/edges of this item during installation. As always, we recommend that all firearms parts are inspected and installed by a competent, reliable gunsmith.
