The amusement park scenes were filmed at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia. Contrary to popular belief, the supermarket scene was not filmed at an actual supermarket. A movie set was built from scratch to look like a real supermarket, and some of the merchandise is fake. For example, the items behind the glass refrigerator doors are images printed on paper. According to the producers, it was cheaper than buying out a supermarket and paying them for broken merchandise. Film was nominated for and won a number of horror/sci-fi film awards, including Scream Awards for Best Ensemble, Best Horror Movie, and Best Cameo for Bill Murray; a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Jesse Eisenberg for Best Actor; and Golden Schmoes Awards for Best Horror Movie of the Year and Most Memorable Scene in a Movie for Bill Murray. Brief synopsis, via IMDb: A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America. On the road, he meets Tallahassee, a bad-ass tough guy with a Twinkie obsession, who is on his way to Florida. Tallahassee gives Columbus a ride to drop him off somewhere in Texas. At a grocery, they are ambushed by zombies, and they run into sisters Wichita and Little Rock who act helpless and innocent, only to rob the boys of their weapons. The girls leave. Later, they run into each other again and agree to join forces. Little Rock wants to go to L.A. where there is a supposed zombie-free amusement park. They arrive in California, and go to actor Bill Murray's house just for kicks. To their surprise, Bill Murray is there. They hang out with him, but after a terrible practical joke, accidentally shoot him, thinking he's a zombie. Columbus and Wichita get close, and almost kiss. The next day, the sisters are gone. The girls are at the park, but the lights and noise attract the zombies. The boys come to their rescue, only to be blocked by a zombie clown. They haul themselves out of there. Tallahassee finds his coveted Twinkie, and Columbus gets the girl.
