Description: NOTE: This is a trade-size edition published a few years after the first edition of 1975. It appears nearly the same with a few crucial issue points which are different. The first edition fetches about $2500+ these days so this is a much less-expensive alternative. Salem's Lot by Stephen King (author of Carrie, The Shining, The Stand, The Dead Zone, etc.) Hardcover Trade Size Edition NY: Doubleday US, 1975 but probably issued circa 1980, lacks a cover price, and 439 numbered pages (with a few blank leaves at the end). Only statement relating to the edition: "Copyright 1975 by Stephen King" without further edition information on the bottom of the copyright page. Edition Information: The original first edition of "Salem's Lot" was issued in 1975 in about 25,000 copies in three dust jacket states. This copy (the one for sale here) is nearly identical to the original first edition of 1975 with some slight differences. Firstly, the book does NOT state "First Edition" on the copyright page and there is no price on the jacket but the blurb on the front and back flaps are identical to the third state jacket. This edition is slightly larger than the first edition, about 9.5 x 6.25" rather than 8.5x6". This does not appear to be a book club edition as it has stitching to the top of the spine where the text-block meets the covers. Also the jacket has a bar code on the back, which means it was probably printed no earlier than circa 1980, and typically lacking from book club copies. After circa 1990, Doubleday reissued this book and other early King titles in new jacket artwork. Fine in Near Fine+ Dust Jacket, a beautiful copy, the book itself appears nearly brand new with no reading wear. The jacket does have some condition issues, mainly some crinkling at the bottom of the back, and rubbing and edge-wear to the crown of the spine. Still, NO tears and NO chips to the jacket that I can see which overall is very bright and clean. Relatively uncommon in this edition. Priced to sell. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.ALSO: The picture is the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.) NOTE on Shipping: If you find there is a delay in your package's arrival, contact USPS first and tell them your tracking number! They should be able to resolve your issue! Contacting me initially will not solve the problem as I cannot expedite USPS. IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same book(s) at a better price". I am not selling new items to compete with other retailers. Returns are only accepted because of significant discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase. Shipping: Media mail $6.50 (up to two weeks, could be longer during holidays.) I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays.$6.50 in the U.S. only via priority mail (2-4 days). Make sure your current address is on Ebay and/or Paypal! All books are bubble-wrapped, and those costing over $50 will be placed in a box. My shipping costs are slightly more than others because I use dust jacket covers, bubble-wrap, and boxes. The extra $1 or so is worth it to protect your book!FYI, media mail is a discount shipping rate for books and CD's. It is not the same as first class mail, and you can't expect items to arrive in the same time frame. They typically take 1 1/2 to 3 weeks. Items shipped media mail take longer than a letter which is first class.PLEASE contact me if you would like a reduction in shipping costs for multiple purchases sent to a single address.
