Description: Incredibly rare piece of Australian and Hollywood television history. These 3 books were released by Educational Television Productions Pty Ltd, Sydney in 1979 (the International Year of the Child) in expectation of the global release of the US children's TV series SAFE EDDY & ALAKAZAM. They were part of the "Tell Me A Story" series concept by Raymond N. McCormack McCormack was to the produce the Safe Eddy & Alakazam series for a Hollywood studio and three pilot episodes were made around 1977-1979. The series involved "robot" versions of Safe Eddy (a model-T Ford) and Alakazam (a wizard). Crew from the first Star Wars film (1977) who worked on robotics and finally man-operated versions of R2D2 and C-3PO, worked alongside robotics expert Bob Young (Silvertone Electronics) who was sent from Sydney to assist. Unfortunately the TV series was shelved. All that remain were these series of books released back in Australia. The books have backgrounds illustrated in cartoon form and then the still images of the robotic puppets of Safe Eddy and Alakazam from the TV pilots are deep etched on top. The last two photos on the listing are from the public forum "Heavy Lifters" IntoFPV forum, one shows Bob Young with the Alakazam robotic puppet. Happy bidding!
