Co-author Fogel went on to receive the Nobel (economics). The book used statistical studies to challenge many of the then current beliefs about the economic effects of slavery. Despite, perhaps because of, the controversy generated this first edition, first printing of Time on the Cross is an important volume. The inscription by co-author Stanley Engerman adds to its allure. The book and its claims, which I have not read, fall outside my areas of expertise. For me, this particular volume would be a nice gift. I am selling many books from my personal professional library associated with 50 years of teaching. Books are in philosophy, psychology, economics, sciences, etc. Please ask questions or for additional images. I am not a professional book grader or seller.
