Description: This Leopard Steak Knife set has been reproduced from an original carving by Madleine Kay. The blade for these knives were custom-made by Jimmy Lile. The knives in the set are cast in Sterling Silver and this collaboration was limited to 60. This set is number 11 of 60, dated January 13, 1989. We do not think that 60 sets were ever completed. Jimmy Lile passed away in 1991. I believe this may have been one of his last collaborations. Overall length is 7-1/2”, with a 4-1/4” blade. Blade is marked LILE. Certificate of authenticity is inside of the wood presentation box. About Jimmy Lile: Jimmy Lile was a legend among knifemakers. His custom blades were popular among collectors, long before the Rambo movies made him famous. He and Sylvester Stallone had collaborated on the knife that would become famous from, Rambo, First Blood. Jimmy and Sly went on to create another knife for the movie, Rambo, First Blood II, The Mission. These two knives have enjoyed over 30 years of fame as either model is still coveted in the knife collecting community. Inducted into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame in 1984 and the ABS Bladesmithing Hall of Fame in 1999. In addition to beautiful fixed blade knives, Jimmy Lile was also incredibly talented making folding knives. His button lock folders are highly sought after as well. If you are a collector of Jimmy Lile Knives, this set of Leopard Steak Knives is a rare find. Winner pays 14.50 shipping.
