Description: A wood carving of the Buddhist & Hindu mythological creature, Garuda, “Krut” in Thai. It depicts the half-man and half-bird holding two snakes, open beak, and stretched wings. Garuda appears in Buddhist & Hindu mythology as the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. The Garuda is also the national emblem of Thailand. This original carving is made from a single piece of solid wood and is painted gold. It is unique and not a mass produced statue, but has no marking of the artist. It stands 14 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 4 inches deep. I’ve owned it for 45 years and it was purchased in an antique shop in Bangkok, Thailand. Actual age is unknown. It is in great condition as it can be seen in the photos. It's one of a kind and when it's gone, it's gone.A flat fee of $8.70 for shipping & handling within the US.
