Description: Here is nice 1987 Rawlings The American Series model HPC-12 baseball or softball glove that is 125" long (per my measurement). The glove is tan with brown lacing and brown leather piping. It has a double H web and is for a right-handed thrower, so the glove fits on the left hand. The quality glove lays flat but still has stiff fingers, thumb and catching area. So it was started to be broken in and then hardly used. Stamped on the front of the glove is "Deep Well" Pocket, The American Series, Made in USA, HPG-12, "The Finest In The Field!" and Rawlings. On the back is stamped the date code HBB00 (meaning the glove was made November 1986 to be sold during the 1987 season), Edge-U-Cated Heel, and Made in USA. It also has a nice original Rawlings cloth patch or label. This is a quality well-made glove that would have sold for $100-$110 when sold in 1987. The very faint initials HW are written in ink on the interior of the heel where the hand goes in. Glove has been broken in and lays flat. But it wasn't used much and the thumb, fingers and catching palm are still stiff, so the glove needs more use it appears. Leather is a bit faded on the thumb side compared to the rest of the glove. Leather lacing appears original and intact. The leather piping is nice. Wool padding underneath the backstrap is all there. Nice quality 1980's glove that still has lots of use left. The glove retailed for $110 when it was new.
