Description: Preowned. Very good condition. No cracks or chips. Yellow with a mottled brown glaze. See pictures. This piece of Red Wing pottery was designed by Charles Murphy in 1954 and is a Swoop Console Bowl in the Mid Century Modern. Note variations to glaze and surface texture that are typical to pottery of this age and style. Red Wing Pottery was once the largest producer of stoneware in the country. Red Wing Stoneware and Pottery began in 1877, making crocks and jugs. As the country grew and changed, so did the company, creating vases, art pottery, and dinnerware Unique designs and shapes glazed in a wide variety of colors are on display in the Red Wing museum. Many pieces of art pottery were designed by famous artists like Belle Kogan, Eva Zeisel and Charles Murphy. Murphy introduced his designs with the Fleck glazes in 1954. The Flecks line used the pastel glaze- Zephyr Pink, Yellow, Light Gray, Nile Blue, Colonial Buff, and Light Celadon – then encompassed tiny specks of dark brown.
