Description: Welcome to Home Farm Antiques on Ebay. Our Goal ~ Happy Customers We stand behind everything we sell. Bid & Buy with Confidence. 16.00 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE A stunning cased set of 6 guilloche enamel studs or buttons intended for the formal waistcoat, or perhaps a dress shirt. These are gorgeous and to find them in their original presentation case is an extra treat. The buttons are set in bezels of 9kt rose gold. The guilloche is in various shades of purple; the handiwork to them creates sparkles and highlights throughout. Each is 9/16" and has its original wire fastener. The enamels are in superb condition. One button has a mild fold or flaw, in face's surface only and visible only under magnification. This flaw was most likely made during the creation of this button. All buttons are marked with the correct original signature Lambourne & Co, Birmingham. The presentation case is beautiful, especially considering its age. The leather on the exterior shows just a few rubs and small scratches, as pictured. The interior is silk satin and velvet in rich buttery buttercream color. The push-snap closure works perfectly. From a private collection, this piece has been beautifully cared for and is worthy of museum exhibition. Note about Lambourne & Co, Birmingham: in 1880 Thomas Lambourne, a popular English haberdasher and jeweler, founded Lambourne & Co. A family-run business in Birmingham up to the WWI era, they specialized in making quality buttons, studs, rigid braces and spats for for the landed gentry. Somewhere between 1911 & 1913, the company moved into Empire House on Great Charles Street, one of many such companies in Birmingham's jewelry quarter. Theyremained there throughout WW1. At around that time, Lambourne's produced products for the military, the earliest branch being the Imperial Yeomanry.
