Description: This is a lovely whimsical and playful Vintage handmade folk art "Ilonka" doll with hand painted papier mache head in rare lavendar colorway. Such a "Sweetheart" FACE!!. ALL Made by artist Ilona Werner-Martin in 1990. The Doll body and clothing is fabric designed and crafted in cotton from Charles Demery Souleiado imported from Provence France in lovely lighter shades of lavender, blues, greens and creams.Doll is wearing a co-ordinating, fun and traditional neckscarf that is detachable. And the skirt is embellished with a ruffle at the top. Such a great design feature and style. Adding to that is the apron to finish off the look!! exquisite!!AND another feature is how the bodice fabric was cut to show the fabric print like a "badge" or "brooch" in upper left chest area...superb in thought and execution. Kuddos to Ilona!!This particular Doll has a loop on back for hanging if desired. Dimensions: Length 22 1/2” x Width 6 3/4”. Weight: 12-13 oz.Doll was originally on display in a boutique from 1992 to 2004, then it went into storage until now. The fabric colors are as brite as they were when she was made in 1990.
