Description: Wonderful early primitive hand woven buttocks basket with remnants of old green paint inside. The weave is tight and has some larger weaving on the sides and base of the basket giving it a unique look. The handle is a continuous piece off bent wood that goes clear down and around to help with the formation of the shape. The handle is worn from use measuring anywhere from 3/16"-15/16" but is tight and strong. The basket measures about 10 1/2" tall including handle and about 15" across the widest part of the bottom. The opening measures about 11" diameter and there is about 10" from handle to interior bottom of basket. This basket is in used condition with normal wear from age and use. It does have some breaks in the weaving and some dark spots unknown cause. This was a Missouri farm find. Please see photos as they are part of the description. Thanks for looking.
