Kiki's Delivery Service Jiji Hand Towel & Washcloth Studio Ghibli Hankachi

Description: Two cotton terry hand towels featuring Kiki's kitty friend, Jiji. In Japan it is customary to carry your own small towel at all times, like a handkerchief, as many public restrooms do not have hand dryers or paper towels; that is what these were intended for. That is why they don't match, like bathroom towels would! Marushin, a leading manufacturer of towels in Japan, partnered with Studio Ghibli in 1994, so these *could* date back some years, but my hunch is that they are more or less contemporary. The tags are entirely in Japanese, so they weren't meant for export, and they are gently used. I would bet someone bought them while they were in Japan, and used them only for the duration of their trip. The smaller one is 9 1/2" x 10", roughly washcloth size, made of 100% cotton with polyester embroidered details and marked made in Thailand. It depicts Jiji sitting on a wall in front of a multicolored cityscape. The larger towel is 12 1/2" x 14", also 100% cotton with polyester embroidered details, marked made in China. Mostly pink with a pattern of roses & paw prints, it is embroidered with Jiji, red roses, a small radio, and... that must be one of Jiji & Lily's kittens!? TOOOOO CUTE, I could just DIE! But I already have plenty of linens & my partner is a little hard on them, so I feel it is best that they go to a Jiji/Kiki/Ghibli fan who will treasure them. I like to think they will make their new owner smile when they use them. :) I also have a tiny Jiji notecard set available and am happy to combine shipping.
