Description: This is a 1976 Jeff MacNelly Original Political Cartoon or Editorial Art Editorial Comic depicting a Republican National Convention Delagate in Kansas City. The caption reads, "Elephants Eat Peanuts," and depicts a large lady in a polka dot dress wearing Ford and GOP pins. The framed original cartoon is hand-drawn and inked. The art is signed, "Jeff MacNelly, Kansas City in pencil. Unsure if it was published have not found it online, and no copyright line. The visible art measures 8" x 9", the museum quality aluminum frame is 13" x 14" and the art is matted and is in excellent vintage pre-owned condition with slight yellowing commensurate with age. The spots you see are on the glass, and could be cleaned by taking the frame apart, but I don't want to do that, it's not hard, but I'm selling it as is to avoid breaking the glass or something stupid like that! About the artist:"Jeff MacNelly (American, 1947–2000) is a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist, and creator of the well-known comic strip Shoe. Born in New York City and raised in Long Island, MacNelly studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, doing illustrations for on-campus publications. By 1970, MacNelly had become a successful artist, working as the primary illustrator and satirist for The Richmond News Leader in Virginia. Over the next several years, MacNelly achieved syndication through News-Leader and the Chicago Tribune, and launched Shoe in 1977."
