Description: About 3 years ago I acquired this magnificent receiver in essentially non working condition and with one cosmetic mar on its aluminum faceplate. I got a good deal on it and so didn't mind having it serviced to own something special. It came back sounding great and working fine but I don't believe it was ever recapped, unless a few specific parts were replaced. And for most of the next two years and a few months all was well. About six months ago the right channel became inconsistent. It would play fine and then I'd notice it wasn't playing at all, then start playing again. Then it would play fine but then begin to sound distorted. I tried various fixes and came up with various theories. It's just the phono input...bought a preamp....it's not just the phono....it's a bad speaker cable....Anyway... I didn't solve the problem but did waste lots of time trying to and finally got frustrated. I didn't want to invest more in the unit. So I bought a modestly price Onkyo and decided to let the HK670 go to someone who's willing to fix it up, perhaps a technician, perhaps a collector of vintage electronics. Wow...just created a new issue....in demonstrating that all the LEDs or lights work, I pushed a button I've never used before: MONO...and now it won't turn off when pushed again. Anyway, a fabulous piece that I hope will be restored to new life in a new home. Please check out my 100 percent positive feedback rating on over 1300 transactions for reassurance. Thank you.
