Released in France as "L'auberge rouge," and based on the famous 1831 French serial murder case, the film centers around a monk (Fernandel) and a group of travelers who take refuge at inn in the mountains. The inn's host confesses to the monk that he serves poisoned soup to his guests in order to rob their possessions and later dig their graves. The monk tries to save the guest's lives without violating the holy secrecy of the confession. An uncommon poster, designed by Hans Hillmann, widely acknowledged as one Germany's top graphic designers, whose work consists of over 130 film posters and book designs. Hillmann was awarded in 1992 by the Art Director's Club in New York for illustration. Shipping billed at cost.
