French Antique Marriage Wedding Globe dome complete wax flowers & bridal veil

Description: This is the most beautiful French marriage globe/glass dome , It is absolutely as was and original- dating from the early part of the 20th century, possibly 1910-20- dating from style, colourings & contents.In our experience it is rare to find one that is in its original condition and has not had items removed or added. This is absolutely full with beautiful hollow wax orange blossom bud floral wedding bouquet & couronne with silk flowers interspersed through out. It gilt decorative leaves and birds and a rectangular mirror at the base of the silk cameo backdrop. Most rare is to find the original finest bridal veil included also.The bridal globe is generally made up of four elements: a blackened wooden base on which rests a glass globe. Inside the globe, this metal decor is made of brass or gilded metal and it symbolizes the great feelings that lead to marriage: love, fidelity, prosperity,.... it consists of many decorative ornaments with vegetable motifs (leaves, flowers, fruits), small mirrors that according to their shape, their number, their position establish a very precise language. The central mirror for example symbolizes the reflection of the soul and the truth.The bride's globe is usually offered by the bride's mother or her godmother; the day after the wedding. In the upper part of the decor, the dove holding a laurel wreath in its beak symbolizes peace in the home.The ivy leaf means attachment, the lime leaf means fidelity, the oak leaf represents the couple's hoped-for longevity.This truly is a French treasure and one that becomes rarer as time passes by.Condition - Good antique condition - No damage to glass globe, the globe is hand blown glass and consequently does have tiny inclusions and bubbles. The base is undamaged and sits on tiny bun feet.
