Howard was the 1960 National League Rookie of the Year with the Dodgers, hitting 23 Home Runs. He helped lead the Dodgers to a World Series Championship in 1963. A prolific Home Run hitter, 'Hondo' was known for the tape-measure shots, including a couple to the upper deck in center field at Washington, the only one to do so. Another, off Mickey Lolich at Tiger Stadium, hit the left field roof and bounced out of the park. Howard produced a record 10 homers in 20 at-bats in 1968. He twice led the American League in homers, finishing his career with 382. Frank added 1,774 Hits and a .273 batting average for his career, playing for the Dodgers, Senators, Rangers and Tigers. His nickname with the Senators was 'Capital Punishment'. One of 10 former Rookies of the Year to manage in the Majors (as of 2000), he led the Padres and Mets, and also coached for the Mariners, Brewers, Mets, Yankees and Rays. A 4-Time All-Star, he's honored in the Washington Ring of Honor.
