Description: This is a vibrant, colorful and finely painted Vintage 1950s Modern Impressionist PARIS French Cityscape Oil Painting on Masonite, which depicts a bustling mid 1950's - early 1960's era Parisian cityscape scene. This painting is by the hand of 20th century American born expat and restless world traveler, Jean Ody (b. 1931,) who is known for painting detailed plein air scenes of Paris, France and Melbourne, Australia. Unfortunately, there is very little biographical information on this talented female artist, but perhaps you know more about her or her work? This piece is full of fine detail, expressive brush strokes, and vivid colors. In this image, there are flower sellers, old buildings, figures walking across the thoroughfares, various automobiles, and several figures sipping coffee or tea in a small cafe, which is visible at the right edge of the scene. In the distance, the iconic Notre Dame cathedral, and several tall trees are visible. Titled and signed: "PARIS. Jean Ody" in the lower left corner. Approximately 29 1/8 x 33 x 2 2/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 20 1/8 x 24 3/8 inches. Good overall condition for over half a century of age and storage, with some mild - moderate scuffing, edge wear and material loss to the ornate period vintage wood frame (please see photos.)
