This beautiful violin shows the typical signs of age, but no open cracks or open seams. The table is finely grained spruce and the 1-piece back is nicely flamed maple. Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup with new ebony pegs, elder tailpiece, new ebony chinrest, a newly fitted bridge, new soundpost and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin!Very good old French master violin in immediate playing condition!
