This fine Dutch School engraving dates from the Victorian period. An antique map of (Braunschweig, Magdeburg…) - Germany signed EPISCOPATUS HALBERSTA-DENSIS Descriptio nova. After Johannes Jansson (Dutch 1729 - 1784) - original plate dating circa 1750. Date: The engraving probably dates to around 19th Century. Framing: Later classic scroll and floral moulded Gesso work. Finish: Gilt. Although framed, it is unglazed. Condition: The map has a join down the centre where it has been taken from the original book. The paper has mellowed with age and has one or two minor marks, only adding to character and authenticity.
