Description: This is a dynamic and Fine Antique Old American WPA Wild West Cowboy Locomotive Train Oil Painting on Masonite, by Southern California painter, Juan L. Olea. I could not find information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? This piece depicts an exciting scene of a cowboy, several beautiful women, holding alcohol bottles and wearing bandoliers of bullets, and a musician in a sombrero strumming a guitar in the lower right corner. In the upper right corner, you can see the steam engine and trail of train cars, showing that these figures are having a raucous and celebratory time atop a freight train in the desert. This work is unsigned but was acquired with another Western themed artwork by Olea which is featured in my listings. This piece likely dates to the 1950's - 1960's. Olea was clearly trained as an artist in the New Deal Program of the 1930's, as this work is rendered in the classic WPA mural style of painting. Approximately 21 x 27 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 18 x 24 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period vintage frame, and some material loss to the lower left edge of the frame's verso (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
