Fiery Furnace Blacksmith - 1/4-Inch Flat Jaw Tongs

Description: These are the Fiery Furnace 1/4" Flat Jaw Tongs These tongs are made from new 5160 spring steel stock. They are hand-forged, one-at-a-time. These tongs have shallow v-grooves in both jaws to provide superior grip and to allow for holding square and round rod. All of our tongs are made from new 5160 spring steel. This makes them lighter and stronger than other tongs, which translates into a more comfortable grip and less fatigue on your hand. The overall length of these tongs is 18 inches, and the reigns are a rounded rectangular profile making them comfortable and not too bulky. All of my tongs are forged to finish, cleaned in a vibratory tumbler, and finished with a dry linseed oil/turpentine mix, rust inhibitor. (This is a slightly waxy, not a greasy or oily finish.) As with all tongs, do not quench these in water to cool them. They will break if you do. Overheating your tongs is a bad habit, so don't get into that. If your tongs do get warm, you can dunk them in water and remove them very rapidly......IN/OUT, very fast.
