Description: This is an original Civil War M1835/M1842 socket bayonet for use with the M1835 and M1842 .69cal Muskets. The surface features an attractive smooth patina with a mix of light staining. Blade is marked with a very clean, yet light “US” stamp. The socket has an intact and functional locking ring. The overall length is approximately 20-5/8" in length, with a blade length of 18-1/8″, and a socket length of 2-5/8″. This example features a very rare and well preserved leather scabbard as well.
