The lengthy report is a detailed summary about a match between the Atlantic and Mutual clubs at the Capitoline Ball Ground, in Brooklyn. Much reporting on the game & the crowd, estimated at about 20,000. The report acknowledges near the end: "...feature of this match was the commendable good humor which marked the action of the contestants...Never was such an important match played in such a manly & friendly spirit. The conduct of the crowd, too, was admirable. Not the slightest disturbance...The decisions of the umpire were also of the most satisfactory character...". The box score is included.
