Description: New or reclaimed from industry materials: Earth pigments, sealant, epoxy putty, acrylic paint, colored pencilsSecondhand/recycled materials: Breyer Stablemate G1 Native DancerDescription: The original Appaloosa horses of the Nez Perce were not the stocky, overweight animals seen in halter classes today, but lean, swift athletes, and more modern breeding by the tribe has brought in Akhal-Teke blood to counter over a century of draft and quarter horse crosses. I wanted this model to resemble the older, "courser" style of appy, so I started with Breyer's Stablemate portrait of the thoroughbred racehorse Native Dancer. I removed the Breyer logo and seams, carved the ears, nostrils, and mouth, and resculpted her into a mare. I then painted her to a bay varnish roan appaloosa, one of the nicest I've done. Her eyes, nostrils, mouth and hooves are glossed.I don't promise LSQ, but I can't find any significant flaws. She measures about 3" tall, and is NOT a toy, but is meant as an art piece and should be handled with care.
