Cushman flat head vintage style flannel shirt, size 1/S

Description: Up for sale here is a shirt from the Cushman label, one of a number of Japanese labels out there doing the vintage Americana thing. Cushman are a bit different in that they’ve got a longer history than many of their contemporaries- they just recently celebrated their 20th anniversary. They’re also located in central Japan’s Gifu prefecture, rather than the much more typical Tokyo location a lot of labels have. Like a lot of other Japanese labels, Cushman’s quality levels and attention to detail are extremely high. You can be sure you’re getting a quality piece. Of course, retail prices reflect this, where these kinds of shirts go for around $200 new in Japan. As far as I can tell, Cushman don’t currently have any distribution outside of Japan either, making this one of those harder labels to get ahold of. They actually recently released some collaboration pieces with Samurai Jeans and Delxuewear, to give you an idea of where they’re coming from. Those issues aside, what we have here is an excellent vintage-inspired piece. This is Cushman’s take on the ubiquitous flannel shirt. Fabric is a medium weight knit cotton. It is a very high quality knit, the sort of thing done on vintage shuttle looms where you can see the individual threads woven together on close inspection. This is the kind of fabric Japanese labels specialize in and you can’t really find elsewhere. Other details include mother of pearl snap buttons throughout, a western style shirt silhouette and quality stitching and construction throughout. Size is labeled a 1, which is equivalent to a small. I measure the chest at 19”, shoulders at 16”, length at 27”, and sleeves at 23” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan. Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
