Description: INCREASE RABBIT Author: T.L. McCready, Jr. Illustrator: Tasha Tudor This is a wonderful item for the Tudor collector! At the time it was written, McCready and Tudor were a married couple. This was their fourth book together, chronicling adventures of animals and children at their country home. The four children pictures on the endpapers (see photo #4) were portraits of their own children. This story focuses on a female rabbit named Increase who becomes a household pet. She loves sleeping in cozy spots with the cat, allows the girls to dress her like a doll and even consents to outdoor strolls on a leash. True to rabbit nature, however, she also makes some mischief. It was tricky to assess condition on this book. Generally, it is in very nice condition, BUT some previous owner was an idiot and went through the book with a red pen. Twenty-two of the pages have annoying little red marks where they "corrected" the sentence structure. Whoever they were, they disliked conjunctions in particular. There is also some gutter separation about a third of the way in. So even though the price may seem high, it has actually been whittled down to adjust for these problems. The presence of the printed price of $2.75 is an identifying feature of a true first edition. This book was bought used, but is in good condition. I take very good care of my books in my smoke-free environment. Dust jacket: fairly good, with moderate soiling, short tears at top and bottom edges, small chipping top of spine and outside corners, not price clipped Binding: yellow cloth binding in very good condition, very clean, no marks; mild bump to two outside corners Interior pages: clean - no rips or marks.
