I realize that many of you who do not live in the southwest don't even get to enjoy 6 good months of growth, but nevertheless you should still be able to grow Mexican Bird of Paradise as a containered plant by offering it some fall / winter protection. This tree / shrub is commonly found in desert Southwest landscapes. It can grow to be 15’ tall by 8’ wide. This plant is frost hardy to about 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Its water use is quite low after establishment but those that recieve ample moisture will reward their owners with a plethora of blossoms.
