Description: Maker and marks: On the base of this gorgeous Limoges vase is the green underglaze "M. Redon France" white ware mark number 2 that was in use between 1891 to 1896. Redon produced fine quality porcelain independently in Limoges from 1882 until around 1896, when it became part of the Barny & Rigoni company. In 1905 or 1906, the company was renamed La Porcelaine Limousine, and under that name it continued to produce superb quality porcelain until it closed in the late 1930s. The second mark that appears on this vase is the red Elite Limoges decorator's mark number 8 that was in use between 1891 and 1900. Elite Works, also known as Bawo & Dotter, was one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century. Age: That means that this vase was produced between 1891 and 1896, making it at least 125 years old and perhaps older. Source: Third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. Design: On one side of the vase is a woman in classical attire; on the other, a delicate blue ribbon. The vase's elegant design would make it a striking display item on its own or a beautiful addition to any collection of fine porcelain. Condition: There is a small and faint star crack on the base that can be seen in bright light; it's shown in the photo with the red arrow. The vase is in otherwise excellent condition with no cracks, chips, nicks, repairs, scratches, crazing, discoloration or wear. Size: The vase is 6 inches tall, 6 inches long and 2 5/8 inches wide. It weighs 15.3 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
