Bound in full brown leather. All edges gilt. Containing a total of approx. 55 original photographs, mainly albumen with a few gelatin silver and a couple of photochrome, mounted on recto and verso of thick card leaves. The majority of photographs showing views in Italy e.g. Amalfi, Rome, Naples, Capri, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Firenze, with several of Norway, a couple of Switzerland, and a handful of the UK. Many captioned in the negative, some with studio details. A few blank leaves scattered throughout and at rear. The photographs are generally of a large size i.e. full page, with some smaller i.e half page. Size: album - approx. 37cm x 28cm / photographs - approx. 25cm x 20cm, and smaller. Good only condition - binding / Very Good to Good - photographs. Binding quite worn. Spine rather frayed and splitting along both edges. However, the album is still reasonably solid. Appears complete, other than possibly one missing leaf. The leather has become quite worn around the edges and spine, resulting in some red leather residue on the surface, coming off when handling. Some foxing and age-toning (mainly light) to several mounts. Loose tissue guards between most leaves. Photographs with generally good tones, with some occasional fading / age-toning as you would expect from an album of this age..
